Next Gen AP Curriculum

Curriculum

Curriculum Next Gen Alternative Provision aims to provide high quality and value for money flexible education to up to 16 pupils ages 11 to 16. Our flexible provision will only provide education to pupils for less than 18 hours per week per child.

Our provision aims to provide a supportive learning environment through a cohesive curriculum including:

• Personal Health and Social Education (PSHE) including Relationship and Sex Education (RSE)
• British Values/Citizenship (BV)

The PSHE and BV curriculum is based on the national curriculum framework.

Our core curriculum will focus on developing and equipping pupils with Functional Skills English and Maths (Entry Level to Level 2) along with Skills for Further Learning and Employment (Entry Level to Level 2) such as:

• Hair & Beauty
• Health and Social Care
• Arts and Craft
• Business and Administration
• Catering & Hospitality
• Childcare
• Hair and Beauty
• Leisure, Travel & Tourism
• Living in the Community
• Retail & Customer Service
• Sports & Fitness
• Many more....

Our curriculum aims to support the next generation of pupils for the immersive and demanding market in digital and computing skills.

The curriculum will provide a stepping-stone and the foundation to equip pupils with skills and knowledge along with the opportunity to gain accredited unit and course qualifications to support pupils into their next stage of their life.

The curriculum is based upon the national Department of Education guidance on Functional Skills and Computing. These are modelled along the Open Awards to Exam Board for our accredited programmes of studies.
Broad and Inclusive Curriculum Our curriculum offer includes national curriculum based PSHE/BV, Literacy, English, Maths and Computer Science, PE and Life Skills – Food Technology.

Typical Day
At Next Gen AP, there will be a morning and afternoon session.

• Morning Sessions: 10.00am to 12.30pm
• Afternoon Sessions: 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Each session will include at least 2 members of staff to 8 pupils.

Typical Sessions
A typical session at Next Gen AP includes:

• 10.00am to 10.30am: PSHE
• 10.30am to 10.40am: Reading/Literacy
• 10.40am to 10.50am: Break 1
• 10.50am to 11.30am: Maths
• 11.30am to 11.40am: Break 2
• 11.40am to 12.20am: English
• 12.20am to 13.00pm: Computer Science*

We offer life skills Food and Nutrition as well as PE as part of sessions.
